The Board established the Maryland Small Business Retirement Savings Trust and implemented, maintains, and administers the Maryland Small Business Retirement Savings Program. Eleven members constitute the Board. Three are appointed by the Governor, three by the Senate President, and three by the House Speaker. Two members serve ex officio. The Board elects a chair from among the Board’s members (Code Labor & Employment Article, secs. 12-101 through 12-502).
The Maryland Small Business Retirement Savings Program was signed into law by Governor Hogan in 2016.
